Re: Toshiba laptop class action
And don't forget the latest Toshiba laptop problems:

"Overheating Intel parts threaten Toshiba laptops"
March 17, 2000
"Intel has another hot problem: Some notebooks are dying because of faulty
processor packaging.
The flaw, which first appeared in Toshiba Satellite 4100 models, affects
certain notebooks containing 400-MHz Pentium II and Celeron processors.
Toshiba Tecra 8000 notebooks also could be affected. The problem, however,
may not be confined to Toshiba..."
And of course, Dell didn't want to be left out of the limelight either <g>:

"Dell notebooks suffer from widespread memory problem"
March 9, 2000
"[...]Between 200,000 and 400,000 Dell notebook computers sold last year
contain defective memory, a problem the PC maker has acknowledged and is
moving to fix."
And people ask me why I like the Palm platform's stability so much... ;^)
Naturally, handhelds can't replace the full functionality of a laptop, but
you get my point. It's getting to be that you can't purchase any major
laptop brand without playing russian roulette with the quality or design of
the hardware.

In addition, the coupons are transferable and can be combined to make a
purchase. So if anyone out there is a class member and won't use the coupon,
just toss it in the mail to me. :)
Seriously, I bet a lot of these coupons will go unused. Perhaps if they were
donated in quantities to a charitable organization, they could be aggregated
and
used to purchase computer hardware for the organization. I wonder if an
address
list of claimants could be obtained from the court to solicit these coupons?
Any
ideas?
